Strategic Planning

Pulse can help organisations to develop their strategic direction and undertake strategic planning. We work with Boards, trustees, Chief Executives, and senior managers to plan and develop strategies and agree forward action plans. Our services include:

Case Studies

New Strategic Plan
Pulse supported Saltbox in the development of a new Strategic Plan for the charity based in Staffordshire which provides support for vulnerable people, including ex-offenders and supported accommodation. Pulse ran a series of Strategic Planning sessions and Away Days, including with Senior Management, staff and with Trustees. Sessions included reviewing current services, visioning and what was needed from a new plan, together with a specific growth planning session. Pulse prepared a series of exercises, and facilitated sessions, capturing feedback for inclusion. We then provided a Strategic Plan Framework which was used to construct the Strategy Plan document. This was developed with the Senior Management Team and the new Plan finally approved by the Board for implementation.

Strategy Planning Away Days and New Strategy
Pulse helped Age UK Horsham & District to develop a new Strategic Plan for the organisation. The process included undertaking background research and then developing two strategy planning awaydays, one for the Senior Team and one for the Trustee Board. These Away Days were used to consider the current situation and environment, set a new vision and mission, and to develop and prioritise a range of strategic options. Pulse then worked with the Chief Executive to develop a Strategic Plan document for agreement by the Board.

Development Support and 5 Year Strategic Plan
Pulse was appointed by the Catholic Blind Institute (CBI) to provide development support and help with setting a new strategic direction for the organisation. This included our ‘at risk’ scoping of a range of tasks including a review of existing services, internal and external consultation including with individual service managers, and developing a forward strategy plan. The support included developing new opportunities including a new Centre of Excellence for Rehabilitation and a Village Campus Facility, as well as undertaking a board skills audit, and developing and running a Strategy Away Day. Following this process Pulse then developed a new Strategic Plan document, including vision, mission, values, new aims and objectives, and a process for plan evaluation.
