Case Studies

Changing Self Belief Project Evaluation
Pulse provide ongoing evaluation support services for Unity Radio. This includes our evaluation of the Changing Self Belief project which has been funded by NHS Salford CCG. Unity Radio is a multicultural youth focused community radio station based in Salford. Young people known to statutory service providers are referred to Unity Radio to participate in workshop sessions and record their own live radio show called Next Gen Youths. Our evaluation has included establishing a framework including setting project objectives and outcomes, and the collection and analysis of data. The evaluation results have included a Return on Investment calculation for the CCG. The evaluation also included a series of case studies and securing a letter of support from CAMHS, as a result the project has now received follow on funding and the evaluation report is being used to support future funding bids.

Lee Dinsdale, Director of North West Media – Unity Radio said “Pulse has supported Unity Radio over a number of years, taking a long term approach and building a deep understanding of our operations. They have helped us to develop our business case to secure funding and contracts, first through the Greater Manchester Police and Crime Commissioner, and subsequently with local authorities and health agencies. They have undertaken evaluations to demonstrate our social impact and savings we are able to make for our public sector partners and are now helping with our growth planning and to secure investment. Unity Radio would highly recommend Pulse to any social enterprise that is looking for a long term strategic partner/adviser and have found their approach to be flexible, understanding, and have benefited from their wider experience.”

Wirral Social Prescribing Scheme Evaluation
Pulse was appointed to undertake an evaluation over the 3-year Wirral Social Prescribing Scheme. The scheme included an initial focus on Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) with a structured pathway for participating GPs using an agreed patient cohort identification tool. Social Prescriber’s meet with the patients using a Patient Activation Measure (PAM) to assess starting point and tailor approach to meet individual needs including setting them an Action Plan, buddying and follow up at 3-6 months. Pulse has supported Citizens Advice Wirral (CAW) to demonstrate the impact of the scheme, including undertaking an appraisal of data collected, interviews with key stakeholders including Primary Care, Wirral CCG and Wirral Public Health Team, undertaking case studies for patients, and an assessment of cost and impact, including outcomes achievements and undertaking a Cost Benefit Analysis.
